Holy Saturday...a day of darkness

Easter Vigil Mass illumines the darkness, at least it is supposed to. The lifeless Body of Christ and His Mystical Body—the Church rests in the cold, dark cavity of a stone tomb and it is terrifying in there. No light, no sound, no life.  A vacuum of sorts, for He who is the Light, the Word and the Life is not there. His Spirit never made it to the garden tomb, it still had more work to do.

So when the flaming caldron brings you back in time this eventide, ponder the darkness and defeat and death that the world experienced in 30 AD.

Then the long buried A _ _ _ L _ IA will captivate your heart and the ringing of the bells will raise your spirit to new life in Him like never before.

This is the true meaning
of Easter Joy.
